I've die cut a butterfly and laid it on my card stock, traced around with a pencil and laid it over the first one and traced only the lines not covering the first one, then with a stylus (toothpick works too my granddaughter tried that) I've doodled the wings and colored with pencils, just some black highlights, this is just to show you don't need stamps and you can even write a message and color over it, I didn't use any wax paper.

Those big butterflies are terrific, and the indenting really shows up well.
